School Trips 2009 - 2010

Duke of Edinburgh Expedition ~ Fall 2009
This trip will take place in mid-September of 2009 just before the leaves on the trees start to change to autumn colours. The trip will cover 3 nights and qualifies as an expeditionary trip for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards programme. Students will canoe, portage, hike and camp in Algonquin Park, a designated provincial park, located approximately 145 kilometers north of Belleville. The cost will be $200 for transportation, canoe rental and food. The trip will be led Mr. Kirby Fredericks, House Director.

New York City Arts Trip ~ November 13 to 16, 2009
This excursion is designed as an “arts appreciation” tour with ties to studies at the senior level for Music, Art and Drama. The trip will be led by the entire Arts Faculty and has been designed as an experiential “touchstone” for much of the classroom work undertaken throughout the year. Cost is approximately $1,400 and includes round-trip transportation, snacks and dinner, guided sightseeing tours of NBC studios and the Museum of Modern Art, a jazz performance and two Broadway shows. Please note that the cost will actually decrease if more than 25 students enroll. 

Mt. Tremblant, Quebec Ski Trip ~ Winter 2010

The 17th annual ski trip to Tremblant will occur from February 13 to February 16, 2010. With 94 runs serviced by 13 state-of-the-art lifts, the mountain dominates a stunningly beautiful countryside and is a haven for ski and snowboard enthusiasts. The trip includes round-trip transportation, accommodation, breakfast and a 3 day ski pass. The approximate cost is $485 plus spending money.

Ecuador March Break Community Service Trip ~ March 2010
Students may elect to join Craig Kielburger’s “Leaders of Today/Me-to-We Foundation” on an eleven-day trip to Ecuador in South America. The itinerary includes visits to Quito and San Miguel. In San Miguel students will participate in a school-building project and interact with and appreciate the Ecuadorian lifestyle and culture. The students will also lead the children of the village in songs and games. Travel and participation costs are $3,500 plus airport transportation and immunizations. Duke of Edinburgh Expedition ~ Spring 2010
Plans are underway for this out trip to include white-water canoeing and camping over a three-day period. The excursion will cover 3 nights and qualifies as an expeditionary trip for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards programme. Costs are approximately $300 for transportation, food and fast water certifications.

Canadiana Tour ~ May 21 to 24, 2010
During the May break weekend a trip will be offered to all students to visit Ottawa, Canada’s capital or historic Quebec City, Quebec. The weekend will include transportation, accommodation (4 per room) and entry fees to museums, galleries and other places of interest. Costs will be approximately $500.
