Pre-Kindergarten Program

A letter from the Principal of the Junior School, Mr. Ric Anderson

Staffing and Facility Update
Letter to Parents - July 2010

Beginning in September 2010, Albert College will be introducing a small pre-kindergarten program for children 2.5 and 3-year-olds. In the first program year, this class will be limited to a maximum of 8 children at any one time. The pre-K program will share space in our new early learning facility at 28 Highland Avenue.

The purpose of this program will be to focus on the development of the whole child – physical, social, emotional, spiritual and intellectual – in preparation for early and ongoing success in our formal Junior and Senior Kindergarten.

Our new pre-K students will experience active, experiential learning through play and a comprehensive, integrated curriculum of carefully-planned and child-centered daily activities. Programming for these children will be the responsibility of a qualified early childhood educator.

The Albert College pre-K program will help children develop language and communication skills and problem-solving skills as they learn to cooperate with others and make new friendships in a small and caring family environment.

The evolution and development of our pre-K program will continue to be driven by the school’s core values of individuality, teaching excellence and participation.

Our Pre-Kindergarten program will be offered on a full-time basis or part-time basis depending on student readiness and family need. Precedence for spaces will be given to those families applying for the full-time program.

Full-Time Option                      Monday to Friday inclusive            8:30 A.M. – 3:30 P.M.

Part-time arrangements may also be made for children attending the Pre-Kindergarten program in either morning or afternoon sessions subject to availability and group size. Parents interested in this part-time option are asked to contact the Junior School office to discuss their specific needs.
